In Chinese history, Ming (1386-1644) and early Qing (1644-1911) Dynasty furniture is considered to have reached the pinnacle of development and perfection. These pieces are famously characterized by their “simplicity,” “fluid lines,” dynamism,” “spatial balance,” “naturalness,” “roundness,” “fullness,” and “dignity.” Because of its refined elegance, functionality and durability, Chinese traditional furniture mixes well with western art and furniture in contemporary setting today.
The past 20 years, while working in Asia and collecting antiques along the way, has provided us with a well established network of suppliers and a deep understanding of each piece that we have purchased and now present to you. We hand select each piece, which must be both original and complete, before any restoration work can begin. Since restoration is a delicate and complicated process, we choose only the most reputable and expert craftsmen to do the work.
Most pieces we collect originate from Northern China where centuries of emperors and empresses have dictated both taste and style. That style is simple and rustic, with strong durability in a climate very similar to the American Northwest. Come in and experience our collection of extraordinary museum-quality pieces in our new Timeless Fine Asian Art and Antique Furniture showroom in Bigfork, Montana – heart of the Flathead Valley. |
